Unite People (also known as UP) is the youth chapter of the Portland JACL. We are a diverse group of youth from all over the Portland metro area who come together once a month to discuss current socio-political issues and plan upcoming events and fundraiser to support the local community. For example we regularly participate in the Nikkei community picnic at Oaks Park, the annual Mochitsuki Festival. We are also involved with other community services such as Goose Hollow – a homeless shelter for families in downtown.
Unite People (UP) is a membership-driven organization whose mission is to secure and uphold civil and human rights for all people and participate in the development of understanding between social and ethnic groups.
If you are between the ages of 14 and 24 with genuine interests in social justice, cultural understanding, and bringing about positive change within the community, then you are more than qualified to join!
We have meetings on the
3rd Friday of every month at:
Epworth United Methodist Church
1333 Southeast 28th Avenue
Portland, OR 97214-2937
Bus: SE Hawthorne & 27th
Come and see what we are all about. Enjoy some snacks and food as well. Meetings start at 7:00 pm. Parents are welcome.
