Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month – a month to celebrate and honor the diverse histories, contributions, experiences, and traditions of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States!

Here are some ideas of how you can celebrate in the comfort and safety of your home:

Order takeout or delivery from a local Asian-owned restaurant.
May is a perfect time to give some love to your favorite Asian-owned restaurant or someplace new that you?ve been meaning to try!

Participate in a Bystander Intervention Training
Across our country,?we have seen a rise in anti-Asian?hate and attacks, both verbal and physical, as a result of racist rhetoric and China being used as a scapegoat for the pandemic.?Asian?Americans Advancing Justice is offering bystander intervention trainings with Hollaback! throughout May. In this free virtual training, you will learn ways to intervene effectively as a bystander if you witness anti-Asian/American?hate without compromising safety.

Decompress with a poem or meditation
We are loving this sweet and comforting collection of poems, meditations, films and other cultural nutrients curated by the Smithsonian?Asian?Pacific?American?Center. Think of it as a virtual hug for these challenging times.

Curl up on the couch and enjoy a movie!
