There's still time to make a donation!

Portland JACL is partnering with Brown Hope’s Solidarity Squad this winter to collect donations for an upcoming holiday event.

Brown Hope is a Black-led racial justice movement to inspire our collective healing, leading community-driven initiatives for action, celebration, and empowerment. This winter, Brown Hope is hosting an open house and holiday event serving 250 Portland families.

Families in our community are in need of laundry detergent and other household cleaning supplies, like dish soap, Clorox wipes, all-purpose cleaner, etc. Will you consider making a donation?

There are three ways you can donate:

1. Venmo a donation to @pdxjacl by Dec 10 so that we can purchase supplies

2. Drop off donations at Epworth United Methodist Church on Dec 5 from 11-2 pm

3. Mail a check by Dec 7 to Portland JACL at PO Box 86310, Portland, OR 97286

Gloria will give a brief summary of what the 10 year charter review is and then facilitate a discussion of how we can contribute our voices to the review of the cities constitution and why it matters.

With Thanksgiving day upon us, we want to express our gratitude to you- our members, supporters, and partners!

You inspire us everyday to continue our work of building community, celebrating our culture, and fighting for human and civil rights for all. We could not do what we do without you!

As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we also reflect on and mourn the centuries of oppression and genocide that still impact Indigenous people and communities today. As Japanese Americans, we benefit from the continued marginalization and exploitation of Indigenous people, culture, and land. We hope that you will take time today to acknowledge our role in the system of settler colonialism and consider ways that you will take action in solidarity with our Indigenous siblings.

Thank you, again, for your ongoing support and engagement. May we continue to work together to build a stronger and more equitable future for all of us.
