A big THANK YOU to everyone who showed up yesterday for United We Stand: March and Rally for Our Rights. And a special thank you to our speakers Dr. Satsuki Ina of @tsuruforsolidarity and Frank So of @ecumenicaloregon.

A quick reminder that we were marching in support of two important Senate Bills that are currently being considered in Oregon State Legislature:

Senate Bill 703: Directs the Department of Human Services to provide grants to nonprofit service providers to assist individuals who are noncitizens to change their immigration status or obtain lawful permanent resident status.

Senate Bill 149: Requires the Department of Human Services to study immigration and will ensure that the immigrant and refugee families that came right before the current administration receive the critical support they need.

Be sure to get to the Japanese American Historical Plaza at 9 AM to hear them speak! Our current schedule is as follows:

Sunday, May 11
9:00 - 10:00 AM: Open rally in the Japanese American Historical Plaza with speakers.

10:00 - 10:30 AM: March along Naito Parkway up to Terry Shrunk Plaza.

Happy AANHPI month! This month, let’s not only celebrate our shared heritage but also stand united against the current administration’s illegal acts of deportation under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 — the same act used to place Japanese Americans into concentration camps during World War 2.

Save the date! This Mother’s Day, Sunday May 11th, we will be marching against the Trump administration's immigration policies and ICE deportations.

Where: Meet at the Japanese American Historical Plaza for speakers then march towards Terry Schrunk Plaza.

Our monthly Prefecture Club was created to help reconnect Japanese Americans with their home prefectures through food and culture. This month we will be focusing on Kanagawa-ken!

Learn how to cut fish and prepare your own Maguro-Don and Sashimi Kangawa style. We will also feature a special presentation from @jillaki on refuse, reuse and incenerator processes in Japan.
