Coffee and snacks will be provided. Bring brooms, dustpans, buckets, tools to pull grass between the bricks.

Thank you Midori Hirose for designing the Portland JACL’s calendar this year! We are so excited to showcase your work. Calendars are in the mail for our members. If you haven't received yours, it should arrive before the New Year! 🗓️

Here’s a little bit more about Midori:

Midori Hirose is a Japanese-American interdisciplinary artist known for her work based in Portland, Oregon. Her art practice revolves around the idea of merging physical objects and materials with the concept of community bonds, acknowledging the role of space in the creative process through various means such as collaborations, historical narratives, perception (both physiological and psychological), and storytelling.

🚨Kakehashi Project Applications are due TOMORROW!

The Kakehashi Project is a partnership with the JACL and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help introduce Japanese Americans 18 to 25 years of age to their Japanese cultural heritage by traveling to Japan. By providing participants with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Japan through a variety of fields (e.g. politics, economics, and culture), the Kakehashi program seeks to build positive relationships between Japan and Japanese Americans 🇯🇵
